La línea de Ferrocarril Expreso de la Terminal Oeste de Kowloon, conectará Hong Kong con la Red Nacional de Trenes de Alta Velocidad. La instalación de 430,000 metros cuadrados albergará 15 pistas y será la mayor terminal de metro en el mundo.
Durante una época, los techos se consideraron lugares que nadie observaba, cubiertos de grava y abarrotados de equipos mecánicos. El techo de esta terminal está formado por una serie de vigas que llegan hasta el nivel del suelo y que convierten el edificio en una enorme colina peatonal. En su interior también contará con paredes verdes a lo largo de toda su superficie.
Los arquitectos de Aedas definieron su proyecto al portal designboom:
“Un recorrido de vías fluídas se extiende desde el plano del techo, convirtiéndolo en un imponente jardín esultórico. En uno de los extremos, a unos 25 metros de los 45 totales de altura del edificio, una plataforma de observación se extiende sobre la elevación sur ofreciento vistas directas del cielo, de Victoria Peak y del paisaje circundante. La circulación de salida del techo se conectará con la línea de subterráneo cercana y con otros puntos de tránsito públicos. Los vacíos y aperturas a lo largo de la fachada permitirán el paso de la luz diurna y la vista de las plataformas inferiores.”
